Living Room (2024) opens the door to a music theatre beyond opera. Interpersonal, emotional relationships unfold organically, without the need for a dramatic narrative. It is the result of a collaboration between the ensemble consord, composer Alwynne Pritchard, director Sandra Strunz, and choreographer Ted Stroffer. It is the product of research, a search for performative possibilities for instrumental musicians and for post-hierarchical structures—both in the performance itself and in the artistic development process.
